My name is Mark Orr ... welcome to my website! This site is basically all about
two of my favorite hobbies / interests.
Genealogy and photography.
I am a member of the Henry County Historical
Society in New Castle, Indiana.
I am also a member of the Civil War Family Society, a father, son, husband and
brother. I was a U.S.P.S. letter carrier for 10 years and have lived in Henry
County a.k.a. Raintree County, Indiana all my life.
For the past few years I've been researching my family's history in Indiana. My
search led me to several states and areas of the country. My ancestors were
Native American, Irish, German and English among others.
I've published three books of photography
"A Midwest Pictorial"
"21st Century Photography"
"21st Century Photography Vol. 2 Embracing Life"
I am currently working on a book about Raintree County.
I collaborated with artist Jef DeCorte on the album cover for
"An Ocean of Dreams" by German musician/composer Achim Weiderschem.
Achim's band name is "Mindmovie". I alos have some photos in the booklet of his
second CD "Happiness and Tears" released in 2011.
I've worked with Swedish composer Simon Husberg on several videos using my
photos and his amazing musical compositions.
My photos have been exhibited at the Henry County Historical Society and
Museum and the Henry County Arts Center. I've also been published in the
Courier Times, National Historic Landmarks of Indiana, Muncie, Indiana's "The
Star Press and other publications.
I recently sold several photos to Blind Decker Production Company for a
Showtime series on TVtitled "United States of Tara" starring Emmy winning
actress Toni Collette. "Tara" is produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by
Diablo Cody (of "Juno" fame).
I've included as many photographs as I can find of my family and relatives and
many photos that I've taken myself. I hope you will find it interesting.
