I found the wonderful music of Ruby James on My Space a few years back.
Her soulful and sultry music captured my attention right away. I checked out
her music player and found that every song on it was outstanding. I had to
have her album, so I contacted her and expressed what a fan I was. I got
the Desert Rose CD (autographed of course...ha!) and have played it
about a million times. Ruby is a rocker and a balladeer. Ruby's music
takes the listener on a wonderful ride of emotions from the sad and
melancholy "Oh Mama" to the hard rocking "The Words Goodbye".
Ruby's Bio:
Ruby James sits comfortably in the space between darkness & light. Her
sultry (and mesmerizing) vocals bring her universal tales of love, loss and
redemption to life, while her rugged sensuality, which bravely masks a
wearied vulnerability, opens the coldest of hearts.
Her album "Happy Now" (produced by Charlie Sexton, co-produced by Will
Sexton) is a stunning follow up to 2008's "Desert Rose" which included
"Everything Good Goes Away" that was prominently featured in the film
"The Women"(produced by Mick Jagger).
Inspired by the impact of writing and recording with Austin's finest, Will &
Charlie Sexton, this native Californian is "Happy Now" to call Austin home.
Ruby has shared the stage with the likes of Jackson Browne, Jane Weidlin
and Pat MacDonald (Timbuk 3).
Ruby is currently working on her 3rd album "Voudoo Queen" of which she
raised the funds on Kickstarter and will be released sometime later this
year or early 2012.
