The Morris branch of my family tree (mother's side) can be traced back to 1575 with the birth of William
Morris (13) in Trintern (many different spellings), Monmouth, Wales, England. I don't have as many
dates and facts as I would like this far back, so I will start with what I know to be fact. I will go back and
add more info once I have it verified with documentation. The numbers in parenthesis represent the
generation back from my son, him being the 1st (1).
(9) Joseph Morris and Hannah (Lee) Asson Morris
This history starts with Joseph Morris, great-great grandson of William Morris.
Joseph was born June 15, 1727 in England. (Birth and place of Joseph Morris is not documented).
He was the son of Richard Morris and Mary Porter Morris. He married Hannah Lee Asson August 21,
1744 in New Jersey. Hannah was born 1723 in Monmouth, New Jersey, the daughter of William and
Hannah Asson. Joseph Morris died in October 1788 in Greene, Pennsylvania. Hannah Asson Morris
died October 2, 1783 in Greene, Pennsylvania. Burial at Garrard's Fort
The children of Joseph and Hannah Lee Asson Morris were:
(8) Joseph Morris and Elizabeth Johnson Morris
Joseph Morris , the son of Joseph and Hannah Lee Asson Morris was born February 1, 1746 in
Burlington County, New Jersey. Joseph married Elizabeth Johnson, born 1758 in Washington,
Pennsylvania. (Marriage in 1781) Washington County, Pennsylvania. Joseph died June 1823 in Rush
County, Indiana. Elizabeth Johnson Morris died 1856 (age 98) in Rush county, Indiana.
The children of Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson Morris were:
(7) Amos Morris and Sarah Howard Morris
Amos Morris, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson Morris was born September 15, 1792 in Greene,
Pennsylvania. Amos married Sarah Howard, born September 15, 1796 in Greene, Pennsylvania.
Sarah was that daughter of Denune Howard (1757-1842) and Anne Anderson Howard (1759-1837).
Amos Morris died November 25, 1869 and is buried in Eagle Village Cemetery, Eagle Township,
Boone Co. Indiana. Sarah died (age 90) September 15, 1886 and is also buried at Eagle Village
Cemetery, Eagle Township, Boone Co. Indiana. In the 1850 federal census they lived in Rush County,
Indiana.
The children of Amos and Sarah Howard Morris were:
(6) Oliver P. Morris and Ann Marshall Morris
Oliver Perry Morris, son of Amos and Sarah Howard Morris was born in 1822 in Ohio.
Oliver Perry Morris married Ann Marshall on October 31, 1844 in Rushville, Rush County, Indiana.
Ann Marshall was the daughter of Samuel Marshall (1785-1857) and Susannah Harvey Marshall (15
Jun 1787-1857). Samuel Marshall and Susannah Harvey Marshall were from Bear Creek, Randolph
County, North Carolina, but died in Henry County, Indiana. Ann Marshall was born 18 Feb 1825 in
Harrison County, Kentucky.
Oliver Perry Morris died in ca 1880.. Oliver Perry Morris was a merchant. Ann Marshall Morris date and
place of death are also unknown.
The children of Oliver Perry and Ann Marshall Morris were:
(5) Huldah Morris Jackson and James Jackson
Huldah Morris, daughter of Oliver Perry Morris and Ann Marshall Morris was born 4 June 1859 in
Hancock County, Indiana. Huldah married James Jackson, son of Levi Clinton (1827-1906) and Ruth
Ann Atkinson Jackson (1832-1908) on March 10, 1881 in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. They
were married by the Reverend James Leakey.
Huldah Morris Jackson died March 24, 1942 in Cadiz, Indiana. She is burried at Harlan Cemetery
family lot. (Have been unable to find her grave). Husband James Jackson died March 13, 1932.
The children of Huldah Morris Jackson and James Jackson were:
(4) Forest Vaughn Jackson and Francis Lorena Thompson Jackson
Forest Vaughn Jackson, son of James and Huldah Morris Jackson was born August 13, 1897 in
Wilkinson, Hancock County, Indiana. He married Frances Lorena Thompson on September 21, 1922
in Hancock County. Francis Thompson Jackson was the daughter of Sterling Thompson (1874-1929)
(Sterling Thompson was born in Kentucky and died in Willow Branch, Hancock County, Indiana, and
Emma May Tutterow Thompson (1883-1906). Emma was born, and died in Indiana, Hancock County).
Forest Vaughn Jackson died December 1, 1951 in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. Frances
Thompson Jackson died July 24, 1988 in New Castle, Indiana.

- Joseph Morris III (born July 5 1793 in Greene, Pennsylvania). Died July 7, 1804 in Greene
County, Pennsylvania. - Jane Morris (born January 16 1803 in Greene, Pennsylvania). Married Cornelius Howard 1815
in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Died April 11, 1885 in Muscatine,Iowa. - Presley Morris (born 1803 Greene, Pennsylvania). Married Rebecca Trees November 15,

Amos Morris, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson Morris was born September 15, 1792 in Greene,
Pennsylvania. Amos married Sarah Howard, born September 15, 1796 in Greene, Pennsylvania.
Sarah was that daughter of Denune Howard (1757-1842) and Anne Anderson Howard (1759-1837).
Amos Morris died November 25, 1869 and is buried in Eagle Village Cemetery, Eagle Township,
